Extending marriage rights to gay couples as well as straight couples seems a long way off for those of us living in Northern Ireland. The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 has been passed in Westminster for England and Wales, the Scottish Parliament is looking at it, but the politicians up in Stormont are still set against it. Or at least some of them are.

The video below is from College Humour which is based in the United States of America, another country where some politicians are trying to stop gay marriage.

I expect that religious opponents of gay marriage will say that the gay men who marry women are proving that they are not gay. I suggest they re-watch the video. Many, many gay men have in the past married women, to try and hide their true sexuality. It doesn’t often end well. How many women want to be in a marriage where their partners are actually not sexually attracted to them at all? Very few I suspect.

So, who’s for supporting the Equal Marriage NI campaign?
