I have had pretty poor sleep for a very long time. It would be safe to say that my sleep has been so insufficient that I cannot remember when last I had a good night of sleep. In a house with three cats, it seems unfair that I cannot sleep, unlike the cats who seem to do pretty much nothing else.
My husband, Andrew, has his routines before bed. An essential part of this is that he listens to (note listen, not watch), an episode of The Big Bang Theory. He also wears a sleep mask and listens to the episode from The Big Bang Theory via headphones. This seems to help him get off to sleep.
Me, on the other hand, I cannot go to bed at the same time as he does. But what I did differently last night was that I sat down in front of the television and watched a video from the cab of a railway engine over an hour long. Specifically, it was the journey from Landor Street to Barrow Hill via Derby. This was sufficiently interesting to keep me awake, but then I drifted off. I woke up this morning with about six hours’ worth of sleep. So, train driver cab Youtube videos are the way to go. I will try this again this evening and update everyone tomorrow to see if the experiment worked.
