Tucked away in the elegant Powerscourt Townhouse in Dublin, I recently stumbled upon a real gem: The Pepper Pot café. From the moment I stepped in, the cozy ambiance and the promise of a proper sit-down felt like a warm hug.
What truly elevated my tea experience was the presentation. In an age where many places opt for mugs, The Pepper Pot brought out a beautiful, classic cup and saucer for my Earl Grey. There’s something so inherently charming about sipping tea from delicate china; it instantly makes the moment feel a bit more special and leisurely.
I also ordered the scrambled eggs on toast, and while they were ultimately delicious, there was a small surprise initially. The first plate arrived with chives mixed into the eggs, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. As someone not keen on chives in my scrambled eggs, it was a tad disappointing. However, the staff at The Pepper Pot were absolutely wonderful. Without any fuss, they promptly remade the scrambled eggs for me without the chives, and the second plate was perfect – fluffy, well-seasoned, and exactly what I was hoping for.

Despite that minor blip, the overall experience at The Pepper Pot was truly lovely. The quality of the food (once perfected), the delightful tea service, and the attentive staff all contributed to a memorable visit. It’s a fantastic spot to escape the bustling city, enjoy a comforting meal, and perhaps even indulge in a little people-watching within the beautiful Powerscourt Townhouse.
If you’re ever in Dublin and looking for a charming café experience, I highly recommend popping into The Pepper Pot. Just a friendly tip: if you have any specific preferences for your scrambled eggs, it might be worth mentioning them when you order!
