Sometimes the Workout Moves

This week, Tuesday was another day away from home, which meant my planned weights session did not happen.

A few years ago, I might have seen that as failure. Living with HIV and being on dialysis since 2018 has taught me otherwise.

Life happens. Hospital appointments happen. Church commitments happen. Day trips happen. Sometimes the workout simply has to move to another day.

The important thing is not whether I lifted weights on Tuesday. The important thing is that I have not abandoned the plan.

Tomorrow morning, the weights will be waiting for me, and I will pick up where I left off.

Fitness with a chronic illness is rarely about perfect schedules. More often, it is about persistence, flexibility, and the willingness to begin again after an interruption.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is to keep moving forward.
