The Power of Small Gains

Another excellent session this morning.

✔ First knee-assisted push-up completed after 8 incline push-ups, followed by 8 and then 12 wall-assisted push-ups.

✔ Progressed to bodyweight squats.

✔ Dumbbell curls with 2 × 1.25 plates—good form and increasing reps each set (2, 3, then 5).

Not every exercise worked. We experimented with tricep extensions and quickly decided they weren’t the right fit for me. But that’s part of the process. Progress isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about finding what works, listening to your body, and building from there.

For someone who has been on dialysis since 2018, every single small gain is worth celebrating.

And thanks to Andrew for all his help and support.

Pic from earlier in the week when I showed some progress.

Evening update

After this morning’s session, I completed 3 sets of 10 dumbbell curls this evening using 2 × 1.25 kg plates on the bar at a 2010 tempo. A reminder that progress doesn’t always happen over weeks or months—sometimes you notice it within a single day.
